Looks good, but those branches need to be a lot bigger and stronger for all but a very young iguana. Replacing them with a wooden ladder or plank might be more appropriate. The Shelves might also need to be increased in size for the iguana to utilize them.

I'm actually ahead of you on that one. I should have said that those photos were older ones. Since then, I've built bigger, stronger shelves (about 18" X 24") and I'm in the process of bleaching some nice big aspen branches for climbing. I made a couple of ladders from wooden dowels and rope and they're easy enough to make so as an ig grows, I can make them bigger and stronger to accommodate the extra weight and girth. I built a much bigger hide than the one the small log-cave-thingy I previously had in the habitat. I also picked up a nice surge protector with timers for the daytime and nighttime lights. I was trying to figure out how to make an automatic misting system, but I think I'd just rather do the misting myself. I'm learning as I go and I've never enjoyed a project as much as this one.

Your enclosure looks really good. you could even try hanging hammok in it too maybe. Like the ones you can buy for ferrets. You'll be misting it a lot!! You could try using a cool mist humidifier on a timer in his cage once a day for an hour or so. One thing you'll encounter with plexi is that the uv lights will yellow it and it'll look yucky over time and your iggy will scratch the pee out of it. Plate glass, altho much more expensive will look good and be a lot stronger for a much longer time. I use 4mm plate glass for all my enclosures except for my iggy. I used mesh with my iguana enclosure just to increase his climbing space, it was cheap and I was always changing it too. Not to mention that I had to completely dissasemble it to move it.

Lexan does not yellow with UV exposure like typical "plexi-glass". I do agree though, that it typical glass may work better. Don't have an iggie, however I've seen the claws and they look like they will scratch the H-E-double hockey sticks out of just about anything.

The only place I used plexiglas was in the upper part of the door and to provide ventilation on the upper left and right of the front of the enclosure.
Everywhere else I used 6mm tempered glass. |

very nice enclosure. if your getting a baby it's pretty big for it but a great size for an adult. I have mine in a room that was made for her spacifically but we had to hold off for a few months as she was just to small to put in. but going big is definatly best.

Well, I figured - why have an iguana in a small tank only to have it get used to its environment and then get moved to a bigger enclosure...and then to a bigger enclosure, and so on, and so on. This way , the ig will know this is his home, his space, his territory...well, kind of.
