Default Blue(similis) garter snakes

After finding some garters I found I really like the little guys. I would love to have one eventually but have no interest in catching one nor buying anything wc. Infact I dont even want one native to canada. I have considered the checkered garters since there are quite a few cb of these avail. However I really like the greens in the garters. I found a breeder out east that has Blue (similis) garter snakes. These are native to florida. What I am wondering is if these are legal to keep in alberta. Also whether they are or they are not does anyone know of any other species that are legal here but not native here and are cb.

here is a pic of the blue garter

All garters are legal to possess except T.butleri and T.sauritus.

All garters are legal to sell except T.butleri, T.sauritus, T.elegans vagrans, T.radix, and T.sirtalis parietalis.

Thats good to know. So have these been bred in captivity long enough that I could safely assume if its listed as cb then the chance of it being wc is pretty slim?

Keep in mind a lot of the florida blues don't end up blue, at least according to a few folks I've talk to who work with these in the US. It's a gamble as some turn varying degrees of blue and some just don't seem to blue up at all. There doesn't seem to be any way to accurately judge how they'll colour up as adults since the babies mostly look the same.

There will be some CB checkereds available in Red Deer this year as well. CCB even
