Talking leaf tail questions

i am looking into purchase Uroplatus pietschmanni common name- corkbark leaf-tailed geckos. i've read some care sheets and they say arn't for beginners, now i'm defanatly not a beginner but does any one know exactly how hard they are to keep? also i read that they are rare and quite expensive (but i've seen a few on canadian forums) is this true? also if anyone can provide me with some links for good breeders or eve just websites on them that would be greatly appreciated.

Breeders are scarce. The importers are only offering one sex. There are a few of the geckos around and the prices aren't that bad. I can probably get my hands on imports basically any week I am so inclined...but I haven't been inclined.

Nothing said about difficulty. They can't be bred because you can't get both sexes.

No-one sells both sexes

They're not difficult to keep. They're impossible to breed, and few people are willing to invest in animals for which they may never find a mate.

Sounds like Saharan Sand boas. Only boys to be had

Very nice geckos tho.

Sikorae is more or less dirt-common. J&J has at least four. There were a couple sikorae at last fall's ERAS show. There were several pietschmanni at the TARAS show about 3 years ago. One can even find giganteus, malama, malahelo, alluaudi and gentheri in the trade now and then. U.guentheri is available out of the USA right now.

Basically, I haven't heard of a truly difficult Uroplatus. The U.ebenaui group don't even like heat - they'll be out hunting when the air is 10 degrees.
