    Default what kind of wood chips are safe to use with snakes? plz help ASAP

    hey there guys i remember that some types of wood are not safe for snakes, which ones arent safe?
    i have an old box of wood shavings from my friends rabbit she gave away it has aspen, red cedar.

    i think red cedar is the one that is toxic?
    pleasee help!!!!!

    note** i know not to feed my snake in with the wood chips, i use a separate container for feeding.

    Cedar is toxic.

    Stick with aspen and I know kiln dried pine is okay too as long as you know it isn't a blend. Cedar is definitely a NO GO!!!

    Pine and cedar are both toxic. Its the oils they have that cause this. I never heard that about kiln dried pine...interesting... but i just steer clear of it all to be safe. Aspen is fine, but I personally prefer cypress mulch mixed with some dirt/coco coir, etc. it seems to be great for many different animals and works great for keeping up humidity if need be.

    I use aspen.

    thanks again guys, yeah i deffinately prefere using that dirt stuff, for get what its called, comes in a brick?
    really good for humidity and looks great, but i realized i was out and saw the old woodhcips we still have for soem reason, but something in my head said " no no Michelle, Check it out "
    ...by the way it was one of my few personalities telling me that
