Anyone know anything about these being sold in Canada? Such as,
Dynastes hercules
Megasoma elephas
Chalcosoma atlas

To name a few, always wanted one, and after stumbling onto them on a website figured I would look into it again.

Check the Plant Protection Agency website. Generally speaking, beetles can't be imported or distributed in Canada.

Edit - done. All three are only permitted for specific facilities [which are also listed online]

That's too bad, I am pretty sure I saw one of them at the last E.R.A.S show. Lucky guy.

That would have been Jay,he works at the bug room at the museum.He was at the show with some of the bugs from there.

And to be more specific, the Bug Museum is one of the licensed facilities.

Hi Cody,

The keeping of beetles is popular in Europe and Asia and some will sell for big bucks. The trouble with keeping them, at least in my opinion, is that most spend a long period of time as larva in the ground or in rotting wood/logs. Megasoma elephas elephas spends somewhere around three years living in rotting wood before it matures and then it lives a relatively short time before it dies. Here's a couple from Belize:
